Ngāti Maru is a Māori iwi of inland Taranaki in New Zealand. They are descended from Maruwharanui, a son of Hotunui. Te Upoko o te Whenua Marae is the iwi's marae near Tarata.〔 The iwi has two trusts, Te Runanga o Ngati Maru (Taranaki) Trust (which replaced Ngati Maru Wharanui Pukehou Trust) and Ngati Maru (Taranaki) Fisheries Trust. The settlement of Purangi is within their area.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Maori history )〕 Another iwi named Ngāti Maru is based in Thames (Hauraki). They are descended from Maruwharanui's brother Marutūāhu.
